Welcome undergraduate & postgraduate students, potential students, parents, and the public, to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), UNIMAS web site. The faculty is situated close to Kuching city, the capital of Sarawak. We strive to provide our students and the public a succinct yet precise information regarding FMHS through this web site.

The faculty offers two undergraduate programmes and they are the medical and nursing programmes. Our educational paradigm is geared towards a student-centred learning approach. The educational curriculum is very integrative and modular. The medical programme adheres to the organ-system approach and the nursing programme follows the semester system. Furthermore, the medical programme has also adopted and adapted Problem Based Learning (PBL) methodology in its undergraduate medical curriculum. In Phase I of the undergraduate medical programme the students are extensively exposed to PBL based teaching.

At the postgraduate level FMHS provides both taught-courses degrees and full time/part time research degrees. Our staff are actively involved in four research niche areas and they are concerning malaria, cancer, infectious diseases, and non-communicable diseases. Various research projects under these niche areas are currently underway and many are on the pipeline. For further information please click on Research tab.

We hope that the information provided on our web pages are useful to you. Please contact us if you need further clarification. Your kind feedback will be appreciated.

Thank you.
